Four tumor simulating cavities of distal femur and proximal tibia in 10 mature dogs were treated with differeft temperature of cryosurgery to know the extent of bone necrosis according to the cryogenic temperature. Used temperature were -10, -20, -30 and -40. Mini-cryogun with liquid niteogen was used for cryosurgery. We examined dach specimen after one week, grossly, radiologically and histologically. The results of the study were as follows. 1. It was difficult to define the extent of bone necrosis with gross examination. 2. Sclerotic margin in X-ray of specimen was revealed as a reactive new bone and helpful to measure the extent of bone necrosis. 3. Histological examination wsa the most accurate method for measuring the extent of bone necrosis. With histological maping, the extent of bone necrosis was 2.4mm in -10, 3.6mm in -20, 4.7mm in -30 and 5.3mm in -40.
